You can just call me Doc.ALSO WHAT UP EVERYONE, CLEAR SKY IS THE BEST STALKERI prefer Doc.I think that's one of the few scripted encounters in the game. Obviously what you did after that was all you and made it way better.I CAN'T HELP BUT NOTICE YOU DIDN'T MENTION CLEAR SKY, FRIENDYou said it. I'm still disappointed every year.Play them in release order. Other people have had good finals mentions.Clear Sky is the best game in the series and must not be skipped. Just because people are mad it's easy to fail quests and it repurposes some of the old maps (in brilliant ways) doesn't mean it's not essential.Metro never seemed that great to me because I'd played STALKER first.STALKER is one of those series that won't work on consoles. If you're smart like me, you have a custom blend of AMK, Complete, and dynamic weather. It's literally the worst game in the series. The most video game-like one. Doesn't feel genuine. The lighting and atmosphere in the Stalker series is absolutely magnificent. I cannot praise it enough in regards to how much it adds to the game. I have 368 hours played in CoP, and it's maybe one of two games I currently own where I cannot believe where all those hours came from. That's how I really know that I became legitimately lost in the world the Stalker series created. A Stalker '2' of some sort with a modern engine, same gameplay, same world building design and full mod tools is one of my dream games. I have played Stalker SoC and CoP multiple times, this what I recommend for a new player. There's nothing wrong with the Complete mod but it makes the game easier in terms of how it changes the guns. STALKER-SoC Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) about the ZRP patch-mod. How do I fast-travel? How do I heal NPCs who don't have a dialog option for a. 'Call of Chernobyl is a free-play sandbox mod for S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat created by TeamEPIC. It features 32 explorable maps, reworked level design and level fixes, new original level, Trucks Cemetery, Full AI and A-Life overhaul, engine and script enhancements, Repeatable task system which bases itself on A-Life events, Customizable weather environments for every map as well as. If you want that by all means. Also, even though I absolutely love SoC, the game in the beginning isn't that good, it doesn't give you a good indication of what this game is about. When you start going into labs etc and exploring that's when it gets real damn good. So stick with it if you don't.get. it in the very beginning. There is a lot of what this series does very well, it's always had a cult following, you'll either.get it. or you won't (and it's fine if you don't), the atmosphere is fantastic, the open world design is good (it's a lot more.alive., life goes on, things happen, you're also not some god or super powerful person where the world revolves around you). Also the setting is great, it's inspired me to visit Chernobyl myself which I've planned a trip for with a tour guide into the zone. STALKER threads pop up on GAF time to time when people get around to playing them which motivates others to get into it and the cycle continues. This is all I recommend for a first playthrough of SoC (copy pasting from my post ):. Texture Packs:. Shaders Max. Weather Overhauled (don't be confused by the 'Clear Sky Faction Mod' above, that is a mod that includes other mods but also this weather mod where you get this from. This will only give you the weather mod. If you don't get the Steam version these are for you - Official Patches (though I think Steam version comes with 1.0006 which is the latest but it's basically 1.0005 with multiplayer fixes so either way doesn't matter).:. Community Bug Fixes (must-have, fixes what patches didn't):. How to install mods (pretty simple, don't worry about it. Basically you just edit a file in notepad to allow mods and for installing mods you just copy a folder over):. FoV Modifier:For Call of Pripyat you don't need much mods unless you want to modify the gameplay like the MISERY mod. It still looks graphically fine (it's a 2009 game). To improve the graphics you'll want Absolute Nature, Absolute Structures, Absolute Scopes as well as AtmosFear. The former 3 mods can be found on the same site you get the SoC equivalents. And for AtmosFear you can get that hereNote: I experienced once weird graphical glitches in some areas (not game breaking, just annoying) when I installed weather overhaul + shaders max, I don't know what happened but haven't seen it mentioned before in STALKER circles. It could've been the order I installed them, if it happens to you (like weird shadows in houses), try installing weather overhauled first then shaders max or do the opposite if it still doesn't work. I remember doing this and it fixed it. May have just been me who messed it up when I installed it initially. There are many mods for STALKER that changes the game itself like MISERY, LURK, etc. I recommend them for when you want to replay it or whatever. The only reason I don't like Complete for new players is because it changes the vanilla experience too much like how it affects guns and so on.This is the order I recommend to play them as:SoC - CoP - Clear Sky.The release dates are actually SoC - Clear Sky - CoP. However the reason I recommend the above is for two reasons. The Clear Sky story is a prequel to SoC, but not just that, the entire game's layout/design is NOT what you would expect from a STALKER game, it's much different to SoC and CoP so I recommend playing SoC and then CoP for what STALKER is known for and they both have relating stories in certain senses in the timeline with references, then play Clear Sky if you want. It is a prequel to SoC and its design is a lot different, not what you would expect from a STALKER game after playing the other two. Some people called Clear Sky a bad game but I disagree, yes it was quite different to SoC and stuff but it was good on its own. Clear Sky has no connection to CoP, it's simply a prequel to SoC so you can leave it for lastAlso check out what Smash88 posted above regarding mods changing gameplay for later. Complete makes it easier? I have trouble even with it. Never got too far into it, though. Always end up quitting sometime within the Garbage area because a faction wouldn't let me progress and all the faction relations are obtuse and confusing. The anomoly stuff is a pain in the ass, too. I don't wanna sit here and throw screws all around like an idiot looking for invisible death zones, I wanna explore. Not to mention the slow walk speed combined with no fast travel. The shooting is fun and the atmosphere is strong, but I get that and then some from the Metro series. I keep retrying SoC every few months and it's fun for a few hours until it's not. I played 2 more hours of SoC with Complete today because of this thread on a fairly new save file. The game is fun and the atmosphere is great, but it's so rough around the edges. Having to fend off a wave of bandits in the junkyard area of the garbage immediately after completing a mission where you fend off bandits in the junkyard is lame. Having to travel all the way back to the starting area to turn in quests and sell stuff then walk all the way back is lame. The game needs some kind of a fast travel mod for the sake of convenience. Thanks!Wow Autumn Aurora with the Thanatos enb is some god tier work, for years I tried to get back into SoC but couldn't due to the dated visuals, never thought Complete did a good enough job, very glad I saw this thread, its like experiencing the world all over again for the first time. I feel like older games even with pretty mods like these benefit from frame capping at around 30, I dunno may just be me but that cinematic feel (lol) helps immersion more for the dated titles. Gonna really sink back into the world this weekend. Complete makes it easier? I have trouble even with it. Never got too far into it, though. Could one of you guys, or someone else clarify what exactly the Complete Mod does to make the game too easy? I've adored Shadow of Chernobyl since I first played it in 2010, but pretty much the entirety of my time playing it was with Complete installed (as well as its ballistics add-on). I mostly played on the highest difficulty, and really enjoyed self-imposed challenges like completing everything as stealthily as possible with just the knife, so I'm not one to shy away from challenge, but I'm curious. Two main things: Enemies respawn at their checkpoints all the time (just like Far Cry 2) I have to keep going back and forth on the same 'main road', there's no vehicles and no fast travel About the enemies respawning, just look at this: Everytime i pass through certain areas, I always run into the same amount of enemies who behave the exact same way and get shot down the same way as well. Hence the dozens of bodies all over the ground. Does this make sense? Why should i accept this in STALKER while i criticize it in Far Cry 2? I'm only enduring that bullshit because the game is really unique And then there's all the goddamn traveling on foot, back and forth between the trader, the bartender and their missions. I am getting sick and tired of this road. Almost memorized it now Not to mention the other problem of the tasks/missions just being random and vague. They're not clear enough and they don't seem to serve a certain purpose. I'm not sure what im doing in this crazy game. Is this shit normal? Is this what STALKER games are like? @SlasherMan: @wolfblitzer85: @SirOptimusPrime: I've heard about that mod a lot, but i'm not a fan of modding the game on my first playthrough. ![]() I always play vanilla first to see the developer's genuine work, then i mod the shit out of the game later (Max Payne and Just Cause 2 come to mind) But since you guys insist that the Complete Mod is an essential enhancer and fixer, rather than a great addition, I guess i'll download it! But i have two questions: My machine is showing its age, so will this mod tolerate that or does it demand a high end rig? Also, Could the mod's version and my game/saves files version not be compatible and force me to start a new playthrough? @AhmadMetallic: Not really. I can run it on my school laptop with an integrated chip and 2.4gHz dual core on an HD res if I use DX8 mode and get 40+ fps with fraps running, 60 fps without. I can use DX9 for lower twenties fps, but the changes between the two are not worth forty or so frames of animation. So no, the game will just look cleaner and the UI is MUCH better in Complete. All I'm saying is that if you're running it with reasonable settings with reasonable performance, expect only improvements since SHoC is a horribly optimized game vanilla. Oh, and yeah, the saves won't work with Complete from vanilla. You don't seem to be too far, and besides it's a much better experience with one of those mods. @AhmadMetallic: You might be able to find a saved game on the internet somewhere.but yeah I'm sorry. I mean, the game will load, but you will either crash horribly in a few seconds or you'll never be able to leave one area. At least that's what happened when I played vanilla - complete. Maybe it was just a buggy install. Try it out, if it doesn't work, you'll have to start a new game. It's worth it, I'm telling you. When you start getting useful artifacts and the mid-game to end-game stuff it gets really good. @SlasherMan said: @AhmadMetallic: If your PC cannot handle the Complete mod, then try Oblivion Lost (which I linked you to in my above post). It focuses more on fixing gameplay issues, and less on the graphical side, so the game requirements shouldn't change much at all. Give it a try, you can't regret it. Stalker Coc Fast Travel TrailerI managed to go for medium settings with a good resolution and the game is running smooth.
